I have a question that I have been wondering about for a while. I have a nicely maintained 93. Fresh rod bearings, etc... My oil pressure is Great as compared to others on the list. 75 at cold start. 30 at 3k RPM hot. 11-12 at idle hot.
But why is our oil pressure so low. Compared to say a normal pushrod motor. Most idle hot at 25-30 and will go to 55 or so while motoring down the road when hot. IIRC I heard or saw a discussion that we have a high volume, low pressure oil pump. Was I just hearing things ( I could not find the thread ). Can anyone shead some light on this for me. I have no issues, just a little too much free time, and I am curious.
