Whoa! Where'd you snag those shots? Prolly the first un-intentionally wrecked "4th" gen.

The guy behind him must've had even worse brakes... ;)

On another note, I hope that this Taurus line has as good of a track record for keeping the occupants safe in collisions. I swear the Tauruses of old just take a beating but I never hear of someone getting killed in them.

Agreed 100%.

FWIW... I was in a gen 2 SHO during a triple digit roll over accident. Escaped with 1 scratch and a sore neck due to landing upside down and fighting to get the seat belt unlatched. :nut:

Triple digit rollover huh? Explain that story. :)

The Taurus has always been one of the safest cars out there. I also hope they continue to be.

You all see a smashed 4th Gen SHO, I see an Ecoboost drivetrain ready to be stuffed into a 1st/2nd Gen SHO :)
Ford will dismantle the car for some analysis, and rest assured shred the remains afterwards. Gonna have to wait for someone to crack up a production unit to score a drivetrain out of one.

I understood that all the pre-production first drive circuit cars were going to the crusher anyhow. This is just more real world test data for them.

The car was making the rounds to the local Chicagoland Ford dealers and got in a 3 car accident. A member on ChicagoSVT.com posted the pics when the car got back to his dealership. Looks like the pics and story made it to autoblog or jalopnik now.

Actually Eric I talked to the head guy at the dinner we all went to after our 2010 SHO runs and he said yes, that some would go the crusher, some would be dismantled, and some would get scattered around for display purposes. While others would be put forth for future testing of future products like they had done to the 2009 Taurus that had the Ecoboost. I tried and tried to have him give me (yeah, :nut: right) one or sell me one. He said that since the car were pre-production models they were not up to Ford's Quality Job 1 expectations and they could not be sold to the public due to liability issues. At least the one I drove had a newly repaired rim (thanks to the media guys that had it before me) and one of the non-SHO Taurii had some major electrical problems while traveling behind me in a major rain storm. Complete loss of electronics for 3-5 seconds. Luckily the guy didn't freak out and followed my tail lights for the brief few seconds and then it all regained control back up. I guess out of the 21 SHOs they had, they may be down to 20 now. :frown:
