On Saturday I put my car back to stock tune and put the 2bar back in, as I have my emissions inspection next month. No problems until this morning when dropping my kids off at daycare, I noticed a huge plume of white exhaust and the check engine light was flashing (which I know is really bad)! It was running rough, but I thought it was because I was driving slowly up a hill and sometimes I have shifting issues, especially after re-flashing.

I left the car running while parked and noticed both exhaust pipes were furiously shaking and there was still tons of white exhaust. I shut if off, dropped the boys off, came back, and the car was hesitant to start, but after a few seconds it finally started. No more white smoke. Solid CEL. Drove to work with no issues. Went out about an hour later and started with no problem. No white exhaust and no shaking. Still solid CEL. Checked oil and coolant; both looked fine. I can check for DTCs with the livernois tuner when I get home.

The symptoms seem like a misfire, but it seems odd that it came out of nowhere and it hasn't continued. I might drive it around during lunch to see if I notice anything else. Any ideas on what this could be?

FYI the 3bar V11 tune should not have the O2 monitors turned off. You should be able to pass inspection without going back to stock.

Hopefully it was just the car adapting back to running stock and everything is fine now!
DTCs were P0302 and P0316. Misfire cylinder 2. Is this the middle backside cylinder? I will check the plugs when I get home. I drove it pretty hard this afternoon and had no issues. I am hoping its a was just the car adjusting back to stock!

I don't know why I thought I had to go back to stock. I will keep this in mind for next year!

Cylinder 2 if you are looking at the engine in the car it would be the middle cylinder closest to the firewall of the vehicle!

Hope a plug is all it is, fingers crossed, no smell of fuel. An injector letting go is not an insurmountable problem, can be DIY with patience. A compression test may be another step you might want to take to rule out deeper issues.

White smoke, misfires, and those codes are text book for a bad injector.

Or it could be the COP on cylinder two as well... I would try swapping that COP with another cylinder to see if the problem follows the coil....

If it does then it’s the COP (easy fix)... if it doesn’t then I would suspect the injector in cylinder two.

Also double check the spark plug on cylinder two to see if it’s damaged and not sparking...

If it is an injector issue, and it’s flooding the cylinder, I wouldn’t drive it as it could wash the cylinder walls down with fuel. This could lead to a slew of issues that could result in needing the motor rebuilt. Best to replace the injector yourself or have it towed to a shop that can.

I really should combine these responses...

But when the injector in cylinder 3 crapped the bed on my 2010 it was intermittent until it finally went...

It was just a stutter when I was tuned but when stock it was worse...

i had a similar issue a while back minus the smoke. after checking the CEL code i was told it was a misfire in cylinder 2. maybe u had a batch of bad gas.

Bad gas wouldn’t cause white smoke... that is generally fuel.. could be coolant as well...

Sadly if you stop by a station that isnt as popular the gas has been sitting ad is no good, its better to find a local station thats very busy that you can trust to help prevent these issues
