which ones, quick

I need to pick up a set of tires for my 90. Not the ones I want necessarily but was wondering if anyone had an opinion on these tires. BF Goodrich touring T/A, Goodyear Eagle GT2, and Cooper Cobra GT. Not much difference in price and for tire size 215/65R15. Thanks in advance.

My car had BFG Touring T/A s on it when I got it.

I'd scratch them off the shopping list.

What do you want your tires to do?

I had a set of the BFG Touring T/A's on my '90 (long, long ago) and they were fine. Smooth, quiet ride. Just don't expect to keep up with someone with sticky tires if you race around a track.

I've heard nothing but bad things regarding most Goodyear tires. Don't they tend to wear quickly? Also, and this is a bit of a different situation, but the Goodyears that came on my wife's SUV (brand new tires) never could be balanced properly, and wore unevenly, and flat-spotted for no reason.

I haven't heard anything good or bad regarding any Coopers.

I'm going to go with stevetatro about the Goodyear, my personal experence with Goodyear tires that came on new cars that I have had makes me not want to pay for them eather.

Go back to an earlier question. What do you want your tires to do? High performance tires capable of speeds in excess of 130+ MPH, and will stick like glue in corners, are made from softer compounds and will not last a long time, maybe 20K miles. Expensive does not equal last longer!!!

50K, 60K, 75K, high milage tires are made of harder compounds, but you give up some performance capabilities.

Do you want an all weather M&S that will last 80K? Match the tires to your use, e.g. daily driver, versus SCCA Roadcourse only!

High performance tires do not make sense unless you upgrade the brakes, the suspension, the steering, and stiffen the body to minimize body roll. IMHO, rangerj

Tires are a compromise.

If you want sticky, they don't last long.

If you want stiff sidewalls for handling, forget about a comfy ride.

If you want a tire thats great in the summer sun, it's probably not very good in the snow.

If you can swing it, get a set of sticky summer tires and another set of wheels with snows or all season.

The Dunlop A60 is a good all around tire, the Bridgestone RE730 is very good. Check out TireRack they have tool to help you make an informed decision.

Thanks for the input guys. Like I said, not necessarily the tires I wan't but I had to pick between the three because of availability and budget. I went with the Cobra's. They looked a little better than the Goodyears did anyway.
