Hello.

I'm changing the front mount on my '95 ATX and I have a question about how to support the engine. Since I don't feel like climbing around or using an engine hoist, could I just take a piece of 2x6 board under the oil pan and use a jack to support the engine while I pull the mount? The pan looks fairly significant and like an easy place to get to.

Also, it looks like I'm going to have to pull the fan shroud, alternator, compressor, and probably battery to get to the thing. Is there enough room to get to it all without removing the radiator? Just trying to manage my expectations to know how much of a day I should block-out for it. I'm guessing it's currently somewhere in the neighborhood of a 3-4 hour job.

You should definately be done in 3-4 hours and sipping a beverage.
Suppoting the engine like you said is perfect for this job. You will need to loosen the rear mount so you can lift the engine with the jack about 2 inches.

i usually distribute the weight between the oil pan and the Y-pipe with a piece of wood.

Looks good up until step 7. I think that's for the MTX Mount. Looks like I'm good to go on my question though.

You can change it withoug removing the compressor, fan or alternator. Jack it up and get underneath it.

One of these days I'll just buy a lift so that it will be as easy done as said.

But I'd rather do that then strip the front of the engine bay. :)

Cant wait to break the next one!

If you do the mount right you won't break it. I can still build you one that is solid reinforced if you are hesitant about doing it.
