Hi all,

I have a 1990 SHO. When I try to start the car, it turns over and starts but then quickly sputters out and dies.Currently, it is throwing code 96. Which the book says could be:

1. Fuel Pump secondary circuit failure--Battery to ECA
2. High speed fuel pump circuit open.

Where can I check the circuit at? I am not even sure where on the car the circuit is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Glen Anderson

its is something electrical, like a blown fuse in the secondary circuit because it is reading as open...

There is a "something" inside the trunk, left side, behind the panel, that shuts down the fuel pump if you are hit. Ours has been bypassed.

yes, in the trunk, on the drivers side is what is called a Fuel Pump Inertia Switch. In the case of an accident, it will cut power to the fuel pump.

Just press the buttom to reset it, if it works. They do fail.

A simple way to check the curcuit is to bypass the Inertia switch alltogether. Just remove the switch, and install a jumper.

is that another name for the EEC?

The EEC is located behind the glovebox. Held in by a bolt on the engine side of the firewall.

Check the relay box mounted up by the radiator, check the connections near where the radiator fan plugs in to the harness. A wiggle test here with the key on my reveal a bad plug in connection.
