Not that my SHO needs repairs, I just like to get an idea of where you all go to get repairs if you don't do it yourself's? If you do it yourself's, how much are you willing to charge me to work on my car if it so happens that I need work done?

I do know that one of the first things I like to do is help my baby to breath better. So my first mod will be to get an intake, cat-back and last headers. The intake, I can do myself. The cat-back and headers, I'll need help with since I don't have the tools nor do I have space to do it where I live. I live in North Philly. I'm sure that some of you know what it's like living in North Philly.

Anywho, Let me know what you all do with your SHO's.

Header's do not really exist for the SHO. They are very rare and expensive, however there are a few very good high-performance y-pipes out there. The stock exhaust manifolds flow very well when combined with a hi-po y-pipe. Midwest SHO is probably the best supplier currently.

The cheapest cat-back is the Dynomax system from Summit Racing for $275.

Exhaust work is better left to someone with a lift. You should check locally for a good private muffler shop.

I bought the Performance Plus Stainless Y-pipes for my two and I've been very pleased with them. Installed the MTX first and then the ATX one rainy Thanksgiving Day a couple of years back.

I don't have any experience with other vendors out there - Doug & Kathy have always taken good care of me.

The Dynomax is definitely the cheapest - cost as well as longevity. I'm spoiled with my Borla I guess. The private muffler shop may be able to set you up with something better quality but similar price as the Dynomax.

GOOD LUCK!

I live in Germantown but I don't have a local mechanic. I do most of the work myself when I have the time and resources. I used to take the SHO to Fred's Mt. Airy Motors for inspection/emissions. They did good work, but they were a tad expensive and they wouldn't let me supply my own parts.

Now I go to Pete's Auto Service Center in NE Philly, near where I work. Pete is a good guy who sometimes takes his time doing stuff, but he'll work with you and let you supply the parts (as long as they are "the good stuff" )

I'd offer to help you out myself, but I have too many projects already, between keeping my SHO in tip-top shape and doing resto-mods to the Falcon.

If you ever need work down in the West Chester area, I could point you toward a good direction or even do the work myself. I'm kinda hesitant of doing major repares for other people, but smaller jobs are no problem.

As for your mod questions. I agree with what others are saying about custom exhaust. Have a pro do it. There is a good shop in Bridgeport, PA. I'll get you the shops number if I can find it. I'm none too pleased with my dynomax kit (aluminized steel is rusting quickly an my application requires slight variences from stock). To give you an idea of the rust, my mothers seven year old Borla kit on the T-bird looks new compared to my eight month old Dynomax system.

The ATX y-pipe is not as poorly designed as the MTX version and should last a while since it is stainless. If you can find a hi-po ATX pipe, pick it up if you get a good price on it. If you need a new pipe, the Catco version from Summit Racing works fine.

At this time no headers exist for the SHO other than the few sets that have been claimed. I suppose there are maybe a half dozen in existance.

Your stock intake is pretty good for an otherwise stock car. Removing the outer air box and silencer is worth 1-2 horsepower, but the sound is worth the work. A Pro-M 75mm MAF can be adapted to work with the stock airbox and computer.

On an ATX, a chip will improve shifting and possibly improve power. The best option here is the LPM from Ted Breaux. He is on the SHOforum as TedB. If you want one of these chips, take your car to a dyno with all your other mods on the car to get a baseline run. With an air/fuel ratio graph, a list of mods, a description of the car, and a summary of how you want the car to shift, Ted can program a chip that will make your car happy.

Although these mods won't make your car a rocketship, it will be loads more fun to drive. Coupled with proper suspension and brake upgrades, you'll have a great daily driver capable of surprising the usual sporty cars on the track and wasting ricers from a stoplight.

Yeah, Pete's is a good place for general repairs, and he has been working on my 89 for a real long time now - he knows the V6 well. He'll allow you to bring your own stuff and you can even stay in the shop to watch them work - no insurance stuff to keep you out.
