Yeah my center caps don't have anything written on them either...but they are kinda small to have anything written on them, plus they don't cover the lug nuts. I don't think there is anybody who makes aftermarket center caps for the gen3.

The Gen3 really doesnot have very many markings on it to let people know its a SHO.

The Gen2 had several SHO emblems on it. (rear , doors and wheels too).

My dad looked @ my Gen3 a couple of weeks ago asking if it was really a SHO. He could not find any letter on it.

Most people dont know its a sho until the engine is shown. I just dont know what FORD was thinking.

Too bad about the center caps , so many other car companies have emblem caps for sale.

thanks

"I just dont know what FORD was thinking."

They were not thinking. My friend that owns a Ford dealership says it was a total marketting meltdown. They should, he feels, have disassociated it from the Taurus line completely and marketted it as the SHO Sports Sedan. If they had done so, he feels he could have sold a ton of them and they would still be in produciton. As it was, he found it very difficult to get people to pay that much more for 'a Taurus with a V8'.

Marketting is everything these days.

The biggest thing seems to be that Ford wanted it to be a little more "luxury-like" this time around. In that case, the badges all over the car kinda take away from that.

It might have helped to market it independently of the Taurus line, although it would require more aesthetic differences than mere front and rear bumpers to fool even the most naive car buyer. The gen 2 SHO could have been pulled off as a different car had it not shared headlights with the Sable and had different tails.

People who won't buy a car with Taurus on it most likely won't buy a car with Ford on it either.

That's one of things I loved about my '99. It doesn't say "Taurus" anywhere (okay, very faintly on the crossbar of the H on the rear end). I always thought that it was kinda mean that there was only the monochrome SHO on the back. :D

You could always get a decal made to put on the caps. I did this for my front fenders below the side markers.

The vinyl decals I have on my headlights and fenders are guaranteed for 5 years. Been there for two years now and look like the day I put them on.

To me, IMMO it all about the stealth. Even though my car has the banner on the windsheild you don't see that unless your coming buy me and most think its "just a taurus" which most people love to hate b/c of most love the stealthness and most hate it when they call ur SHO a taurus. You still have to love it whne people drop their jaws when you step on it and see how that thing moves and sounds(if you have intake/exhaust). I love it. hail

The "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" aspect is what the SHO is all about. I gave a friend a ride home from work the other day and he was shocked by the way my "Taurus" howled as I passed cars on our way home. As you see, my intake is the 3inch "Porterized" system, so it really makes some noise, and that is a good thing! thumb
