been working on the slicers for a couple of weeks now when I had time too. today was a beautiful day and I got done work early so I decided to finally apply the first couple coats of paint and clear coat. There is little imperfections here and there, but I think they turned out pretty decent for the first time I've ever painted anything.

Primer stage
Slicersprimer

1st coat of grey
Slicers1stcoat

3rd coat of grey
Slicers3rdcoat
Slicers3rdcoatclose

1st coat of clear
Slicersclearcoat

2nd coat of clear
Slicers2ndclearcoat
Slicers2ndclearcoat1

so thats all I did today. I'm going to let the paint cure for about a week and maybe throw another coat of clear on.

anyone have any suggestions for a good polish to put on top of the clear? would just any normal polish do it?

I used chemical stripper and alot of hand sanding. these are actually 2 directional and 2 non directional so I wish I would of had a full set of each, but either way it will be fine. I'll just put 1 set on one side and the other set on the opposite side, it will be hard to tell the difference.

60 then 120 then 320. then in between primer coats i did a light 1000 grit to smooth it out.

very nice job, those are gonna look great on the car

so thats all I did today. I'm going to let the paint cure for about a week and maybe throw another coat of clear on.

only if you properly scuff the pair again before you do so, otherwise the new clear probably wont stick well

yeah I think I decided against another coat, I'm just going to let it cure then figure out the right way to buff it.

What kind of paint did you use? On my old mustang i painted my polished rims black using poly paint in a rattle can and came out really good and stood up to daily driving for almost a year before chipping a little.

I just used some dupli-color wheel paint from pep boys. seemed like it would be just fine. and I am pretty darn pleased with the results.
