what is the proper wheel offset for a 17x7.5" rim? I believe the range is 38-42 but I can't remember.

Thanx

Offset is measured from the center of the wheel, so as long as there's clearance (e.g., on the inside to the strut) the offset doesn't need to change as you increase the wheel width. This is preferred since it keeps the downforce in the center of the wheel bearing.

If you have clearance issues on the inside wrt the strut, or the outside wrt the fender lip, you can compensate a bit by playing with the offset. Significant changes will move the downforce in or out on the wheel bearings and accelerate wear.

My OZ are 35mm. I had to roll the rear fenders for clearance with 235/45-17 tires. GEN2 and GEN3 have more room.

My Fondmetals are 17 x 7.5 and have a 42mm offset. I'm using 225-50-17 and they fit no problem.
