Hey guys - great site. I yanked the dash to replace the heater core a few weeks back, and couldn't help but notice a relay that was mounted on the passenger side wall, about two inches behind where the vent ends up. The relay is about a cubic square inch, has just a few wires coming out of it, and almost looks like they go towards the antenna.

But here's the rub. On the front of the shiny silver box is encrusted the BMW logo!!! Why would Ford have gone w/ Beamer part? I'm positive the previous owner didn't do any work behind the dash, and it's not accessable from the glove box.

Just a fun thought!

BMW like every other maufacturer, is more than willing to sell their parts to anyone. There are also standard pinouts for most relay configurations so the PO probably just found one that had the same pinouts and used it. Some of the best relays are made by Siemens of Germany ( a HUGE conglomerate).
