Mercon/Dexron III should be spec

if you really feel like spending more money... you could probably use Mercon V

but I wouldn't go anymore then that...(such as a full synthetic fluid like Mobil 1, Amalie...) waiste of money...

better off getting a good cooler

they do, and they also run through the radiator if Im not mistaken

your best bet IMHO for someone in a warmer climate... IE not canada who drives the car in the winter.... because those radiator coolers actually make the fluid hotter when need be... when its cold tranny fluid gets like syrup and jelly... so it needs to be a certain temp atleast...

so if u don't have -20 temps... put fittings with barbs on the tranny cooler fittings on the case and buy new line to fit those and run into the bumper.... don't kink the line too hard... then get one of those endtank to endtank side to side coolers..... NOT the kind where it keeps coiling back upon itself like an AC condenser... you want the kind that more looks like a radiator with two endtanks on the side.... FORD makes some decent ones actually stock on their big ass E40D tranny in things like F350 E350 etc..

I'm guessing you have an automatic? I have to guess because Automatic Trans Fluid is used in the MTX cars as well...

I will have to disagree and say (having lived in the great white North) that putting synthetic in there will be a definite advantage if the car is used in the winter. I'd suggest the Mobil 1 atf, which is "both" Mercon/Mercon V.
