it has solid engine and tranny mounts, and asfb,so i know every vibration is going to be felt..but this is nuts...if the car is in neutral and i rev it..nothing..just your normal little vibrations..if your driving and you put it in neutral there's no vibration...butttttt once you engage the clutch everything starts to shake...the faster you go the harder it vibrates..to the point the rearview mirror is uesless:oogle: it had a lw flywheel and cm s1 clutch installed by PO less than 2k miles ago...any ideas would be great...i have a fealing the bearing on the drivers side is shot(wheel moves with 3-9 test),i know that would cause a howling and slight vibration. but what i'm experiencing is more of a violent vibration, like something is out of balance. the wheel doesnt shake..and theres no pulsing in any pedals, shifter isnt vibrating or shaking either

Well, asfb, solid mounts, any vibration that occurs in the drivetrain is shot right at you. unless your making some real HP or run the crap outta your car all the time, I HIGHLEY suggest going back to regular/reinforced mounts

It really sounds like the flywheel is out of balance. BUT I dont know how all those solid mounts would feel, but it might just be from no give in the drivetrain.

well if the flywheel was out of balance, then you would have the vibration the complete time the engine is on...its the engine flywheel.

could be your flywheel has warped slightly, and/or the clutch plate, when they go together slightly off balance, you would feel that.
could be an axle thats bad/out of balance. but it only shows when power is put to it?
or it could be further into the tranny...the output shaft and so forth.

I would make sure that none of the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel are loose or missing.

Ditto, Pull that starter out of there and check them. And while you're at it check the pressure plate straps.

I had/have the same problem. I thought i blew a diff pin ripped the engien and tranny out only to find out my engine was shot b/c odf a bad bearing, anyway i ripped apart the tranny because I thought thats what it was. It wasnt... so now im left with getting my new engine and new tranny back in and checking out axels and maybe UI should check to see if there is a warped flywheel too but I doubt its your tranny. I had a really loud knocking sound ONLY when the clutch was engaged (it wasnt my bad bearing). So before you go crazy check the axels and easier stuff like that.

Hmmmm... maybe, maybe not. Over time and distance, it might wear the rear main bearing.

whats considered the rear main bearing, I never looked at mine but my rod bearing closest to the flywheel looked like this:

I dunno if thats relevant or if it helps but I guess it cant hurt to post maybe it makes sense to someone.

it has new rod bearings, theres no nocking sound.the engine seems to run smooth and relatively quit...
1)axles
2)wheel bearing
3)pressure plate and straps
i'll check in that order..seems to be easiest to hardest

Get under your car and see how close the exhaust pipe is to the subframe. Mine touches during acceleration. vibrates the **** out of the car.

Oh and I have asfb's...solid mounts, sfc's....

I also have a slight vibration at idle that smooths itself out once the revs climb and mine has the reinforced mounts and asfb's. There's no miss but the engine does sound like it's got a hot cam in it and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be fine but the vibration does get a little annoying sometimes. Obviously if it were a balancing issue, I think the engine would have vibrated itself to pieces and that hasn't been the case. It's also due for the 60K and I'm gonna take a close look at the cam timing just to make sure that everything is lined up correctly.
