Heres the story. Its an 89 that has 99 sho wheels on it. I put 4 brand new falken ziex on it last week. From 65 and up i had a vibration in both the front and rear. I go back today and the fronts are off .50 ounce. One of the rears was .25 ounce off. So they rebalance them. It helped, but its still vibrating from 67 and up. The wheels are not bent and theres no play in the front end at all either. Does this still sound like the tires arent balanced right? Discount tire is who i had balanced them twice now. The first time around the front end vibrated like crazy and the rear was a little bit but not too bad. now the front end is just a hair off and the rear is where im feeling it the most. I never had vibrating problems with my green one and this is starting to tick me off. Could tired struts cause this? Ive replaced my motor mount and put alsfb's in but i havent installed the struts and springs yet. The car currently has stock springs and some monroe sensatracks on it and im wondering if i should go back tomorrow and try this a third time or wait till i get my tokicos and intrax on it? The first time they used hammer on weights to balance it. This time they used the adhesive style. They also used a different balancer in the shop this time around. I do alot of highway driving so this is really ticking me off. Im not sure how old the axles are or if they have ever been replaced for that matter but the boots are still in excellent shape and the axles dont look bad. I guess what im asking here is is there anything i could be missing that could cause it to vibrate or do yall think this is the classic discount tire cant get it balanced right scenerio? The only reason im not thinking its the car itself is because everytime i get it re-balanced the vibration changes characteristics. Anyways i will quit blabbering here. Yalls suggestions are much appreciated. Im thinking ill go back tomorrow and try this a third time but i wanted yalls input on this. Thanks :thumb:

exactly what i was gonna say....if the vibration only happens between say like 55 to 70 then its usually a balance problem...now you have to ask oyurself did they vibrate like that on the previous car they were on???

Is this loaded balancer the kind that has the wheel that exerts pressure on the tire while being balanced?

Im thinking i might get some slicers from someone because i bought these wheels off of a slo and didnt drive the slo before i bought them. They are the 99 sho wheels but tehy were on a sport model slo or whatever it was called. Anyhow i cant say if the basketweaves vibrated or not because i got rid of them the same day i got this car over a year ago. Since my sister was getting the car i got these wheels with the existing tires for her..... she drove it a year and everything was fine..... I got it last week and it had these crappy tires she put on it so i went and had the falkens put on hoping that would resolve the vibration but it didnt. Discount tire just has the basic balancer. They dont have the kind with the metal wheel that rides the tread.

It could be a CV. I had a nasty vibration from about 50-80. I replaced the drivers side axle, and the vibration has just about disappeared. I knew it was the axle, when I jacked the car up, started the engine and got the wheels turning at about 20mph, I could see the axle shaft wobble. The vibration was always there, it was just dampned enough at lower speeds that it wasn't noticable.

try going to another discount tire shop location and balance it there, I had exactly the same problem with les schwab, installed four brand new tires, and had a nasty virbation from 65 and up, next day went to a different location, balaced it there, and it was all smooth, plus it should be free.

OH you didn't know
Call that Discount Tire store and ask them to send you to a store with a Force Variance balancer. That type of balancer will indicate if the wheel is the problem or if it is the tire itself. Are they putting the wheel weights on the front and backside of the wheel? Or are all the weights on the inside? You would not be able to feel .25 off on one of the rears......

I had the same problem with my 94, which the seller claimed had never seen an accident. Turned out the culprit was nevertheless a bent frame, which I had pulled back to spec at a body shop, and then had an all wheel alignment. The vibrations stopped completely from 60-80. Just thought I'd give my two bits...

I've encountered this before.. From your recollection, do you know how many weights the wheels have on them? Even though it balances out, if there is a LOT of weight there (ie put 2 weights on opposite sides of the wheel instead of one in the middle, it could be doing what you're saying. I have had this same thing happen before, but it could be some other factor.. Just my $.02
