OK heres the scoop: my front main seal is starting to leak quiet a bit. No biggie, just tear into it a replace the seal, but you have all of those "might as wells" with the timing belt, water pump, CPS, accessory belts, the normal 60k tune up stuff. Now my dilemma: I have receipts from the previous owner showing a partial 60k done (water pump, pump o-ring, timing belt, and accessory belts) at 125k miles. The car is at 142k miles now so should I bother with the water pump, timing belt , and accessory belts? Or is this a case of the "might as wells" an just go and do a whole 60k while I'm in there?

Opinions vary, and I'm sure many others will have a different opinion as mine, but I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I would replace the timing belt. It doesn't need it but you'll get a belt that's 20K miles newer, maybe a bit tighter, and it won't need replacing for another 60K miles. Not that much money for the part considering the labor is free. The accessory belts? That's your call. They're not so difficult to replace so reuse em if you want, you can always replace them later without much difficulty. Then again if you replace the timing belt and your budget allows you can get 0 mile accessory belts at the same time. If money's really, really tight I'd just reuse them. If money's really tight, me personally, I'd replace the timing belt anyways to reset the clock on that one.

Leave the water pump be. Has the CPS ever been replaced? You might want to consider that. If there was reason to replace the water pump before then there was reason to replace the CPS IMHO.

If you're going to remove the water pump for any reason, I'd make sure I have new O-rings to use (get the felpro o-ring set, a couple bucks from autozone). I think it would be a false economy to not replace something so cheap if I had the water pump off.

Since you do the work yourself, you are not out more than the physical effort to replace these parts should they fail early which I believe is unlikely. You may even feel the same way about the CPS, but I must ask how old is the CPS? If it is more than 60,000 miles old, then I would plan to replace it since it will not be until another 40,000 miles before you are conveniently able to access it during the next timing belt replacement. I would leave or reinstall the timing and accessory belts and water pump as is. In the end, the choice is yours.

I had planed on replacing the CPS since the age is unknown (it was not listed on the receipt as a part that was replaced).
