ok give me a break im the new guy:) i just purchased a 1992 SHO with 158k miles on it...i ran it and all seems well tranny is still firm and engine isnt making any wierd noises..the only thing is the dealer replaced the steering pump cause it was leaking and when i ran it today at the dealer it smoked like the dickens once it got hot. They told me its cause they were sloppy and got oil on the manifold...im gonna make them make sure..but anyways lol...is there anything specific that i should be weary of with so many miles? i heard the trannys have problems anything else i should look for?...the interior is almost shot..the leather is all cracked and the autoclimate control knobs are busted up..I bought this as my winter and daily driver car as i drive about 100 miles a day to work and home..I have a 2000 pontiac GAGT..i appriciate the help...and i will be on here often

hey man. the trannies aren't bad in these cars. only the automatics had the real problems. the 93's were the worst but they "improved" the design in the 94-95 models. This only applies to the automatics. The manual trannies are made pretty solid. they are made by mazda. some things to watch out for: leaking water pump, oil in plug wells, type of spark plugs, type of wires, and clutch feel. Pull out a plug wire and see if you have any oil in the plug wells. you could also scan your codes. go to www.shotimes.com to see how you do this. alls you need is a paper clip.
