Weird Check Engine Light

I am posting this just to get some input from you guys as to where to begin with the diagnosing of this issue. My CEL comes on but not right away when i start it. It usually takes about 15-20 mins of the engine running for it to come on. Now if I shut it off and start it the CEL comes on right away, kinda giving me the impression that it has something to do with the temp of the engine or the cooling system etc... laymans terms only comes on when the engine is warm. Could this have to do with a thermostat... any input would be much appreciated

Probably would tell you a lot if you new what the code was that sets off the light.

check for code numbers, that really narrows it down usually

I think it's weird that you would post on here asking what would cause an engine light without scanning for codes, it really could be so many different things. I vote for bad pcm lol, it really could be anything. Go to Auto Zone and I'm almost positive they will scan it for nothing if they have an OBD 1 scanner.
