Those of you who follow the TechSHO forum have likely seen the postings. For everyone else, here is the official announcement.

I will be bringing a set of electronic scales to the SHO convention in Madison. Weather permitting, we will be set up & scaling cars throughout the car show on Tuesday. The price is $5 which will be donated to charity via the Thursday evening banquet. If you would like to donate more than $5, we will certainly appreciate more. You will be provided a weight sheet indicating your car's total weight, each corner weight, left side percentage, rear percentage and cross weight percentage. I may also set up during the track days, maybe.

Mad props to you sir.... It's very nice of you to use your personal time and equipment and for information that most will really want to know.

I snagged a rear package tray (black interior) from a '90 SLO "L" at the boneyard. It doesn't have the raised speaker grills/mounts and doesn't have the console/flip door like the SHO package tray does. That's gotta be worth at least 1-2 lb :D

When I get back to GA at the end of the year I'll be on the hunt for some rust free black front doors with crank windows. For the rear at convention-time I'll have fixed non-moving 1/8" lexan windows for the rear doors. Also some thinner light-weight interior carpet :)

Have you weighed your topaz? I'll try to get down to your levels wink

Might want to weigh the crank window parts first!! Don't know about Ford, but I know that back in the '80s the GM electric window mechanisms were lighter than the crank setup.

I haven't take a scale to the boneyard (yet!) but from examining the inside of the doors from a crank window SLO and the power mechanism, there is a whole lot more "junk" in there with the power assembly. The roll-up crank assembly is pretty small and mechanically very simple.

With the fixed lexan windows in the rear, you get to dump all that crap inside the doors and lock the inserts into place. Looks stock, and back door windows on a weekend track toy are never used anyway!

I did weigh it at one of those side of the road truck scales last year, but I'll be damned if I can remember what it said. Somewhere between 2800-2900 without me in it I believe. The heavier engine and other mods have added about 250lbs to it from stock! frown
