So the ugly red SHO that I picked up recently came with Chrome slicers with some almost new el-cheapo all-season Sears tires on them. My Titanium (daily driver) is getting VERY low on tread (just hit the "wear-bars") so I decided to swap them.

The Titanium went from wearing 'weaves to chome slicers. It looks HIDEOUS, but that is beside the point. With the wet and the weather here already, it is all about safety. And these new skins stick more, and hydroplane less

I noticed a HUGE difference in excelleration. And not of the good kind. My Titanium feels dog slow now. All becasue of the wheel/tire combo change.

Has anyone weighed both a slicer and basketweave with a tire mounted? I know that the slicer and the backetweave wheels weight nearly the same unmounted, but I am curious.

Moving on, because of this, Im definately going to swap them back once I get new skins mounted on my basketweaves. And Im also thinking of finding some lightweight wheels for the beater red car. Since it is going to go on a MAJOR diet and become the fun machine. So, any suggestions for some relatively cheap, lite wheels? I dont car about looks, but would like 16"s.

Thanks!

First of all, what's "excelleration"? Are you sure that the change in acceleration isn't due to the crappy Sears tires spinning more?

I weighed my Weaves w/ 225/60/15s, but I don't remember what they weighed. I know they were about 3 lbs lighter than my 17s w/ tires.

As for cheap and light 16s, Team Dynamics Pro Race II may be the best bet if you can get them. Some of the wheels on Tirerack and DiscountTireDirect are also affordable and relatively lightweight. If they don't list a weight for a particular wheel, drop them an email and they can tell you.

Gee sorry, I miss-spelled one word :jpshakeh:

No, acceleration is not being effected by tire spin. These tires are gripping better right now (in the rain) than my worn down Bridgestone Turanza's. And Im noticing a HUGE difference from roll starts.
