I purchased a new weather strip for the trunk of my SHO. What sort of prep, other than removing the old one, should I do ? What adhesive should I use to hold it down ?

Check the old one. A lot of those primary weather seals just press on over the metal ******/lip of the opening. The gasket has some metal spring bits embedded in them to keep it grabbing. I haven't looked at it, but this type of gasket is pretty common on cars.

I don't think you need any adhesive, I didn't when installing mine. Plus if you ever need to take it off to put something in the trunk that may damage it you could quite easy if its not glued on.

Not to change topic, but i didnt want to post a new thread with the same question on a different part of the SHO...

Recently, the seal that fits around the driver side door has started to fall off on the A pilar. I can push it back onto the pilar and it will stay for a few days until it falls back down. It has only started with the cold weather. When it falls down, water and everything can get in between the door and the pilar leaving my door and dash wet. Is there a type of glue or something i could use to put it back on corectly? Everyone here that commented about the trunk seal has said that it just pushes onto the metal... That isnt the case here so I am thinking there is a type od adhesive to use. It is in great shape so i dont think i need to buy a new seal.

3m makes a weather striping adhesive. I can get it here in Canada, but I don't know where you would look for it. Its a slimey yellow glue in a black tube.

Go to any parts store and ask them for gasket/weatherstripping adhesive. 3M certainly makes one, plenty of others too.

The other thing you could try is to pull the gasket off (completely or just enough to get access) and crimp the ****** a bit with pliers and something to protect the rubber (metal or wood strip). That might squeeze the metal bits inside it enough to make it hold again. Free and maybe worth a shot.
