Greetings to all...I picked up a 89 Ford Taurus SHO for cheap from the people moving down the street and although it runs fine it is blowing quite a bit of water out the tailpipe and is leaking water from around the cat. as well. Is this a sign of a major engine rebuild or what adivce might you have in terms of getting it corrected? I love the car....everything works, perfect leather interior, body nice...some clear peel on the rear trunk...brand new tires...:) I picked it up for $800.....

Any advice? Thanks!

perfectly normal. nothing to worry about. :thumb:

EDIT: but if its leaking around the cat, you have an exhaust leak there.
BTW, check out www.fordbsatards.org thats where all of us Texans hang out.

Alot of the guys are just south of you in the DFW area. Im all down here in San Antone by myself...

water is a product of the normal combustion process, its just usualy in vapor form, but when the car is cold it instead condenses in the exhaust and tends to run out where ever it can

it should go away after the car warms up fully, including the entire exhaust system

werd.

if it doesn't go away check your radiator to see if there is any oil in it. Also check your oil for water. Does it run hot?

If there is a mixture of fluids welcome to the Club Rebuild. There is alot of us members.

Not running hot....just seems like quite a bit of water coming out. I checked the radiator and the levels are fine....I can see what looks like soot in the water which is leaking out...Carbon? Thanks for all the advice...I am ready to start driving this SHO as soon as I can get it ready....:)
