I spilled like an entire cup of water into my '93 ATX's shifter when I had to stop short for some ******* in traffic. I got home and everything was fine. Went to go to work and my car won't start. I also have no reverse lights. Anyone have any idea what it could be ?? Thanks so much.

oh damn. Not really versed with atx cars but whatever it is you will probably have to remove the console so I would do that while waiting for input and start drying out the area under there. You might even get lucky with unplugging any connectors grabbing a hair dryer and small chance things start working. If not you still have to access the area and replace stuff

I assume there is a switch that shows the computer that the car is in park so you can start the car and probably something similar to sync the reverse gear with the lights

Yea man. I gotta look up how to take that console apart. Like I know that transmission range sensor is on the transmission itself, so I can't imagine the water got that far. I ordered a new one, just in case.

If anyone knows of any sensors on that shift or the area around it, let me know!

I assume the shifter selector lights up and connects with the main light switch so you can see what's where at night? Is there a button on the side of the shifter for overdrive off or something like that? Just 2 random guesses as I never had one apart.

Jk that vacuum switch is for the e brake release. It makes sense.

Luigi, I'm gonna take all the connectors I find and dry them out best I can. If that doesn't do it, I'm gonna replace that switch on the transmission that's my last ditch attemp lol

There's gotta be someone familiar with the parts in there. You try searching the forum or google?

I feel like such an idiot. The starter went out.

Literally the best timing in the world. Spilled water in my shifter on the way home from work, parked, and the starter went out. Totally unrelated.

Serves me right for not checking the easy things!

The vacuum brake release also has a connection on the vacuum tee under the hood, labeled B/R. After having had my 95 ATX for a few years I noticed that the vac line had come off the tee. I didn't know what B/R went to, but hooked it up thinking it was better than a vac leak.

Shortly after I put the car in drive while the parking brake was on and it released on its own, I didn't expect it or know that the auto cars had that feature, and it actually kinda freaked me out a bit. Now I think it's cool, but wonder why they didn't make it auto release in reverse also.
