Hey all, are these the right gaskets for thermostat housing/ crossover tube thing? They seem to have the right number of bolt holes...

I havent seen much at all about this stuff on teh forum, so any advice on mounting or removing the dang thermostat housing/crossover/heater outlet housing/ setup would be a great help.

Thanks
David

If you are replacing the thermostat, the only seal you will need is the one you hold in your hand in the second picture. That is, if it didn't come with the new thermostat. There are no other gaskets at the T-stat mounting location.

The O-rings look like the one at each end of the crossover tube - one at the water pump discharge and one at the distribution manifold at the thermostat end.

The fiber gaskets? I haven't ever had to take apart the distribution manifold between the crossover tube and the thermostat.

Hey, what is the part number on that gasket set??

That looks like the stuff I need, I am in the middle of a front 60k (LONG overdue) and rod bearing swap.

The only cooling system gaskets you'll need for the front end (timing belt) 60K are if you are replacing the water pump. The O-rings that are the most important seals requiring attention are in the Fel-Pro ES70425 set available from RockAuto.com for $5.25 or local auto parts stores for a small amount more (<$6).

Electricat,
I did manage to get the thermostat housing and the housing next to it off this evening and it is definetly the right set for it.

Fel-Pro fel ES70426 listed under "Water crossover mounting set " and i got it from here.

Fyi if you havent taken the pulled the housing off of the crossover tube before, expect A LOT of resistance. It took me a while to work mine off.

Why did you have to remove it? There is no reason during any of the normal maintenance that this housing must be removed. Only if the gaskets were leaking should you bother this component.
