Yes it does take awhile. I used a meguires clay kit. It worked good and it is only the second time I've done it.(first time was on my moms impala for her wedding) I like the quick detailer that comes with it. I used their cleaner wax as well. I love how smooth the car was afterwards and that shine is awsome.

I live in chickamauga so I'm pretty much right on the border of tennesee I work in chattanooga.

At bpd1151,Ah yes well worth the effort I think ill probly try and come up with certain times of the year to do it like spring and fall. Since I generally wash the car every other week twice a year should be good. Also you have in my opion one of the best looking gen4 cars. I love what you've done with it.

At FitefanSHO, yes the driver door is open. I didn't notice it till later and the passenger side is closed actually. The lady I bought the car from said it was backed in to but never claimed on insurance. The paint there is not real bad and visualy the dent doesn't look that bad only from certain angles. It does create a wind noise I hate sometimes.

Well I wouldn't say I put you on a pedestal...lol...I'm like most people on here that love a good looking SHO. And enjoy getting compliments and seeing things that one has done. I like to see peoples ideas and see if it is something I would like to do to my car regardless if its a gen1 or gen4. And yes I will stay tuned...there are some threads on here that even if I don't make a reply I still like to keep up with what's is said

Thanks...My car was orginally from chicago and somehow made it to florida and then alabama and now tennesse/georgia. There is no rust at all. Some orange peel and a dent on the passenger side and a ding or two. Here in the south unless its a really old car or truck you don't see many rusted cars.

True that. I have a 1968 Dodge truck that my Pawpaw bought new. It has 62,000 original miles on it and absolutely no rust. It does help that it has been under the same carport since new. You could say it has lived a sheltered life.

Thanks Sam. I was going to say we inspected it pretty good. I don't know how long it was in chicago I just know. It originated from there because the origanal papers are all in the glovebox.with taxes the car sold for 32k. Is that a lot for a 96?
Yea southern cars normaly don't have much rust. But you do see one now and then. When we had all the snow this winter here and the roads stayed salted I made sure the car stayed sprayed off and even ran through a few undercariage washes. I hate salt on the roads

Excellent news. Rust hides under those plastic rocker moldings, so good to hear you do not have that problem.

That price new was not unusual in the US in 1996. It was never a cheap car, which is part of the reason that it did not do well as a model.
