'ol man in the SHO
Not much going on this weekend, so I finally began the dismantling of my trusted 'ol SHO parts hauler, Wah-Goon, an 87 GL wagon. It was retired last fall when I bought Junior, an 05 Ranger, for my work duties. The wagon started out as a Christmas present in 1987 and has served the family well, providing countless trips to 'da U P , hauled building materials for my garage project, and in general was a damn good family car.
Still has the original tranny, and get this, still has the original rear brake drums! ( they may wear from the inside, but rust on the outside is what really kills brake drums. Keep those things painted and they last a long time.) I rebuilt the engine about 8 years ago, installed a '95 front brake upgrade, and put a 24mm front bar on. In the later years it functioned as my work ride, hauling me and 500 lbs of stuff anywhere-anytime, a task it performed quite admirably. It attended a few of SHO meets around the area so many of you have seen it, and quite understandably did not want to park next to it. There won't be any parts offered, 206,*** miles spread over nearly 2 decades of driving in the rust belt have consumed most of it.
Long live the spirit of Wah-Goon, now bring on the wrenches.
