Let me first start by saying that I believe my tranny mount needs replacing. When I moderately accelerate at certain higher rpms (3K and above), I have a vibration under my feet. It feels as if it is coming from somewhere near the left wheel. It will go away under full throttle as the rpms climb. Like I said, under slight throttle at these rpms, it vibrates with much annoyance. Who has any ideas?

You might have worn motor mounts..specifically the front one. Go to SHOtimes.com..and they have a test for them, to see if they are worn..that could be the problem.

Are you new to the SHO world?

When I bought mine last summer, I thought I might have had problems because of the engine vibration. Upon further investigation, I have determined that the yamahammer is just not the smoovest mill in the world.

You want a smoother reving plant, may I recommend any BMW inline 6.

It is for this reason that I use synthetic oil (Mobil 1).

When I first put synthetic in the SHO the slight engine vibrations that were there with the dino oil simply vanished. Also, the engine was quieter with the synthetic oil. When my wife got in the car after the switch, she thought the engine was not running when in fact is was. I first used Mobil 1 at the 12,000 mile mark and I now have 105,000 miles on the car. I just did the valve adjustment and there was absolutely no cam wear. As soon as I get my valve train pic's from my neighbour's digital camera I'll post them.

It seems that in regard to valve train wear there is little difference between synthetic oil and dino oil if oil changes are regular. I change my oil every 3,000 miles.

So, for a smoother idling engine use synthetic oil.

1. Being member #166 on this site, I sure hope I am not new to the SHO world.

2. The vibration I encounter is not an internal one. It feels as if something under my left foot is loose and goes away as the rpm's increase. It makes sense that it can be a mount and not an internal problem.
