So, Against my better Judgement I decided to run my SHO at the track. I did not know what to expect as I have not ran a SHO at the track in years and a few people were telling me the local track is a hard place to find traction.

My SHO, As it is sits is bone stock (Engine wise) except a SS Equal Length Y-Pipe. I have 225/50/17 BFGoodrich G force sports, I don't know what the Tire pressure was at. I had a 1/8th tank of 93 in there and also removed my spare tire and jack. So how did I do?

Well, Unfortunently you HAVE to go through the burnout box at this track, No going around it. I was not happy about it...but alas, I pressed on. Here are the results.

Run Number 1:

60' - 2.5675
1/8th - 10.0560
1/8th - MPH - 72.84
1/4 - 15.3956
1/4 MPH - 92.78

As you can see, My launch was crap. However, I lost all hope of getting in to the 14's after this run because I felt my trap speed was a bit low and I knew my shift points were on tap. I set my goal for the night to hit a 15.1.

Run Number 2:

Run number 2 was a consecutive run, I went straight from the return lanes back to the staging lanes - No cool down.

60' - 2.4522
1/8th - 9.84522
1/8th MPH - 74.00
1/4 - 15.1
1/4 MPH - 93.87

Hello! I met my goal! My 1/8th time went down considerably and my traps went up a tad. At this point I decided to park the car, Ice down the intake manifold and watch the races for a while. An hour came and went, The car was cool and my nerves were calmed.

Run number 3 -

60' - 2.2626 :naughty:
1/8th - 9.5428 :dribble:
1/8th MPH - 75.04
1/4 - 14.7449 :woo-hoo:
1/4 MPH - 94.76

I couldent beleive it. The Launch felt AWSOME. My shifts pwere spot on and the car just all around felt great. Not bad for being stock minus a Y-Pipe eh?

P.S. - I Have no idea what I was launching at and I also need new motor mounts. :sun:

Impressive times, take alot of people alot of trips to the track in succession. You must have a very healthy car. Think of what a couple other mods would do for ya. Now just think of what you could have run with that zex.

Bet that surprised some people, do you have anything after the y pipe? mufflers?

Nope. Stock catback. Infact, I have an Exhaust leak after the Y-Pipe from the motor mounts flexing to much. Does that coun't ?

Would have been pretty funny to see the faces of some of the spectators when a seemingly stock Taurus ran a mid 14 second quarter.

Good for you

Congratulations Sam. I drive mine on the strip a few times a year and traction is hard to come by. what elevation is the track you ran at? and what temp? next time run your left tire at 20psi and the right at 22psi. that will help fool the trans and make it into a sort of posi. Mark

The funny thing is, Is that my left tire has always been a little low for the past week

The track is Fayetteville Motorsports park, I think it's only a couple of hundred feet above sea level. :whoknows:

Thanks!

If you had any freakin' clue who Sam is, and had spent more than 6 months here, you would know far better than to call Sam's integrity into question.

You ought to slap yourself. You better take that e-thuggin', trollin' shit elsewhere - it's not welcome here.

There will be no "**** or ****" faggotry on this board.

Indeed, With a trapseed of ROFLCOPTER! I think I'm about as quick as anything on the forum.

-Sam
I should hit up a track near here at much lower altitude (<1,000 ft at my house) to have something to really compare to. 110 traps on my car don't seem to be that high with the power, but the lowest NHRA conversion for near sea level was 116 mph. My stock '92 only hit 88mph on and equivilant to a 14.8 run, so the increase was huge. That's a 22mph jump!

Nevertheless, great driving!
