Anybody know anything about these tires?

The manager at Pep Boys is trying to sell me these at $120.00 each instead of the the Avon tech 500's for $143.00 each.

He claims that the Ventus K104 is a better tire at a better price.

I work for Pep Boys. I was going to purchase some of these tires through us. But... it's not offered for my size. Also we are discontinuing them to make room for our Kuhmo selection :naughty:

I personally wouldn't go after a Ventus K104. I would rather go Falken or Kuhmo.

Good Luck!

Well, I just ordered the Avon Tech500 in 245/45R17 for $120.00 ea. shipping anoher $50.00. After reading the reviews on tire rack, I decided to go for them.

I tried to get them through Pep Boys, but they were having trouble placing the order through their warehouse. After about 1 1/2 hours of trying to get the order placed, they finally gave up.

These tires seemed to offer good performance along with good street manners and low noise. They also had good handling under wet conditions.

We'll see.

I've had and still have some Ventus K102's and am not too extatic about them. I thought they would have a little more grip than they do. At the moment, they are about done (understatment), but even when new, I was not too thrilled once I started to beat on them. They are currently on my '92 as I am trying to get every last ounce out of them before I put on my other rims and tires.

For my '95, I just purchased a new set of Nitto Extreme NT555 (235/45/17) for $104 a tire. We'll see how well I like those this weekend!

I've got Dunlop SP Sport FM901s - They're pretty sticky. I've only had them for a few thousand miles, but they seem to be pretty nice. They held up alright on track as well. I don't expect them to last very long (especially with my driving habits) and they are noisy at medium speeds - from about 35 to 55 mph. Above and below that I dont hear them.

They were about the same price as the Nittos Jason got.

I found this comparison on tire rack very helpful and informative.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=UHP

I do not race my SHO, but I like to drive spirited on the street without being crazy or dagerous, and I do not want to make the car any more uncomfortable than it already is (extreeme motor mounts, solid aluminum SFB's, Eibachs, Konis, Fidanza).

I hope the Avons come through for me.
