Valve Cover Gaskets?

I've owned my SHO for a few months now, and every so often when I start the car a quick puff of blue smoke comes out of the exhaust. I just changed the spark plugs about 5K ago, and noticed there was some oil leaking in to the wells on to the spark plug wires.

At this point, I have done two oil changes and I have to add more oil every 1000 miles (the check oil light comes on). I understand oil in the wells can ruin the wires and stunt performence, but will having faulty gaskets harm the engine? Or could there be other reasons why there's blue smoke coming from the exhaust on a cold start up?

Also, I don't know the history of my SHO up to 120,000, so I'm assuming the valve stem adjustment needs to be performed. Can this be done easily while changing the valve cover gaskets? Any one have personal experience with performing the upper 60k? Difficult? Expensive?

Valve stem seals are different from the upper 60k. The valve stem seals are probably bad on you car with the smoke on start up. There is quite a write up on the replacement of them on shophoenix.com. You should have replaced the valve cover qaskets with the spark plugs if there is oil in the wells.

You mean valve adjustment, and yes it can be done while you change your valve cover gaskets. If you do not have the tools or shims, you can always check the specs to see if they are correct.
