Hi,
New member here. I need to change my Valve Cover gaskets and the only place in town only carries them for 3.0L and 3.3L. I have a 3.2L is it the same as a 3.3L or are they different if you could offer any help I would be grateful.
Thanks

Welcome!

V6 SHO engines are 3.0 or 3.2, not 3.3.

The valve cover gaskets are the same for both engines. Felpro # VS50378R, AutoZone.com, 72 bucks, includes the valve cover gaskets and 6 seals for the spark plug wells.

Please spend some time reading prior posts, using the search feature, and consult the FAQs at www.shotimes.com

Good luck!

Steve

Welcome.
I know there is no 3.3l SHO.
Maybe they are mistaken.
The Felpro part number is vs50378r for the 3.2l engine. This kit includes the spark plug well seals, and is about 73-100 bucks.

If you are doing the valve covers there is a lot of preventative maintenance you can do.

Visit this site and click on "Care and feeding".
Also you can gain a lot of knowlege from using the search function at the top of the page.

Thanks for the suggestions with the search button. You guys really know your stuff. I just want to get one thing clear. The valve cover gaskets are the same for both the 3.0L and the 3.2L?

Thanks

Does anyone have any info about the Ford valve grind gasket set for the 3.0l and the 3.2l? The last time I checked, the one for the 3.2l was a fraction of the cost, yet all of the vital gaskets (head, intake, exhaust, and v/c) were the same p/n when looked up individually. Is there any gaskets that aren't the same? I plan on rebuilding my '89 3.0l and it would be nice to get the cheaper set if it will work.

Thanks,

I have never heard of a "valve grind gasket" for the SHO. The only real gasket differences that I can think of right now between the 3.0L and the 3.2L are the timing belt cover seals and the EGR gasket. You will have to be more specific about the name and contents of the gasket set you referred to.

A valve grind gasket set is usually all the gaskets from the head gaskets and up. Should be:head gaskets, valve cover, intake, anything else you need to remove to get the heads off. I didn't know Ford had one for our SHOs, never asked.

I found the p/n of the kit I was referring to. F3DZ-6079-C. It has everything needed to remove the cylinder heads. This one was listed for the 3.2L, I'm not sure right now what the p/n of the 3.0L set is.
