I am in the middle of the Upper 60k on the '95. I was curious exactly what the story is on the new valve cover gaskets with RTV. The SHOPP guide, as well as a few other folks say to use RTV on them. However, the box from FelPro says they are a special dry gasket set and to not use liquid sealer on them. What's the scoop? Are they still the same as usual, and should I still use the RTV or did they change the design?!? Also, where is RTV recommended. Are the SHOPP instructions still the best set? (Use on Plug well seals, the corners of the rounded parts, and to seal the valve cover bolt rubber parts)

I want to make sure I completely do this right... I had cracked plug wires and oil in the wells! Also, does anyone know if AutoZone rents the vacuum pump that can be used to suck oil out of the plug wells and carb cleaner out of the intake ports? The thing I got doesn't look like the one on SHOPP. Is there something better to use for this? The intake ports were FILTHY!

Thanks so much! :)

Just use a little bit in the corners or the rounded sections, other than that there good to go dry if your using a new set.

Only use silicone RTV on the right angle corners where the camshafts penetrate the passenger side of the head. I have used Permatex Ultra Gray with very good results over the years.
