Valve Adjustment and 60K tune up

What exactly does a valve adjustment consist off, and how do i know if i need it?
I put a new timing belt on my car, and after realizing the tard i bought it from put the wrong size on it, really made me think about some things. He said he got the car profesionaly tuned for 2 grand, which i believe is all BS. What are some signs of a 60k tune up, and what all needs to be done?

I would say that it has never been done before most places dont even know that there are shims in there. I would say its time to get in there and take a look. I also answered your other post about the plug seals, well since the covers are off you can check the condition of the cams and the shims, but you will need 2 special tools to take the shim out to inspect it. It depends on how much auto experience you have if you want to attempt this project or not.
