Hi all,
I've been lurking here for a little bit. Fascinated with the SHO and the V8 engine and long story short, I'd like to try stuffing one in another Ford (which I'll keep a secret for the moment...sort of for fun). ;)

I'm in need of dimensions if anyone might have them? I did find this thread from a <gulp> decade past:
https://shoforum.com/index.php?threads/engine-dimensions-and-some-questions.80516/#post-800838

...which sadly was a 3rd party image, now long gone.

Any chance anybody has a copy of this or has a 'lump' and a tape measure and could do me a favor?

Would be greatly appreciated indeed.

Thanks in advance,

Don

Well, I've never measured an engine before. But I'll take a stab at it with a measuring tape. Any particular dimensions you want other than width?

Thank you very much!
As luigisho mentions, for sure length, width height and ultimately, the most important to me is the length. Transverse mount and from the bellhousing it seems like I have a 'general' limitation of about 21 inches. I say general because in some spots there's less, others more, all depending on the altitude. So around 21 inches there's 'frame' which I can't modify but above and below that there is more space (inner fender of the unibody), and I'm not afraid to change the location of ancillaries. If it's a touch and go result, I'd even consider shifting the transaxle a little and if necessary, doing up some driveshafts. That too is limited though.

Thanks again - when you have some spare time.

Don :)

Quick tape shots of an engine I have on a cart behind a toolbox.

Thanks very much, Eric - that's most helpful indeed.
Gives me a pretty good idea of the general size of the assembly and the placement of some of the ancillaries too.

Would it be possible to get a length measure from the back end of the block (bellhousing surface), to any point forward? With that and these I should be all set to start calculating some go and no-go conditions.

Thanks again Eric!

Don
