Well I am gonna put some of my tax return money into the sound system...at the moment I have an old pioneer deck and all factory speakers...but I have the sub amp bipassed. I think the speakers sound like shit...hooked to the pioneer deck.

Anyways I have always like Alpines stuff. I was thinking one of their middle of the road decks...and maybe some components?

My girlfriend has a 96 mustang and I put in a sony deck, Small rockford amp...maybe a 100.2?? or something (I don't know their different sizes) and also a 10inch punch II sub in a enclosed box. Still has factory speakers though. I like the way it sounds...It is clean, crisp, and bassy...You can be heard 2 blocks away if u want to be...but sounds good with all different music ...not just rap.

I don't have a ton of money to spend...maybe $600 bucks. I can put it all in myself...I don't Think I need more than a single 10, 12 sub and if anyone has made a box to specs to fit the trunk of a genI let me know.

Thanks
Brandyn

i just picked up a 400watt amp and two subs in a box for $300 the box fits perfectly up against the back seat with just enough room to store my roadside kit next to the box. The amp i found on ebay and the subs i bought from an online stoe (i would have to check for the link if you want) but they are not cheap stuff all cadence. Then with the extra 300 you would have left over pick up a set of $125 alpine type-R components on ebay and see what you can find for a HU or just pick up the type-r 6x9 for another $125 leaving $50 for wiring and run it all off the stock HU

I was looking on ebay and found a few things...what do u think??I don't know much about components systems...with crossover, seperate tweeter, etc.. but looking at the setup looks pretty simple.

I am not sure if that is enough amp to power that 10inch sub...but I think it would be.

I would go with the new Pioneer speakers. You can get 4 or 5 way for 6.5 speakers and 5 or 6 way for 6x9 speakers. Look really nice and I dont think they go for veary much. The alpine 4 channel amp will give you a nice boost for your speakers. I would do that first because it can add a good amount of bass just by adding it. Mine only cost me $180. You can get a good deal for MTX subs, like $99 for 2 12" 4000 series. So one will cost you $50 and they are of decent quality. I perfer the 6000 series though. Kenwood is okay for subs as well as Alpine. Alpine speakers are not all to great compare to Pioneer. MTX and Rockford amps are pretty good for subs. Do not use Rockford for speakers. You will only need about 200 watts for a sub for your system.
Components are probaly a little expensie and over doing it for what you want. They will sound good but most run around $200 or so for a set. Hope this helps.

If i were to rebuild my system in my sho right now I would definally look into an alpine head unit. My buddy has one and the sound quality and features are much better than my pioneer 8200r. But i would not get the alpine sub. I had a 12 in type R in a sealed box and the sub hit pretty hard but it also didnt sound good unless i had my crossover up high, which in turn pulled the soundstage to the rear of the car. Right now i am running 2 aura force subwoofers, which are awesome subwoofers except for the fact that the company is not very well known since they dont sell aura at best buy. The aura force subs are excellent sound quality subs in either a sealed or ported box with enough spl to satisfy most people. And right now there is a 12 in sura force on ebay for 10 bux....cant beat that....

I would sit down and write out on some paper what equipment you have now and what you are hoping to accomplish. Then I would take that paper wad it up and put all of your money into your front stage speakers and quality cross-overs. (j/k about wadding up the paper) Your front speakers (tweets, mids, mid-bass) lay the foundation for the rest of your system. We all know what happens when you don't have a strong foundation.
