Hi guys,

My 2010 just rolled 5000 miles.

I noticed that in the morning, when leaving my neighborhood, waiting at the stoplight, I have a very very slight rough idle, like a minor hiccup. It only "hiccups" 2-4 times when waiting a minute or two at the light, however, once the engine is warm, it idles seamlessly.

No problems with acceleration and going steady speeds.

I changed the oil and filter this weekend (MC 5W20 with a MC Filter) and rotated the tires.

Anyone else have a slight stutter or rough idle when cold?

See my post below on 11/11/2010

What fuel are you running?

Yup, sitting in my garage at first start up from sitting over night it does have a rough idle. I don't recall it having one sitting at work all day though. Once I get going it goes away. I just changed my oil this past weekend and haven't drove it since. I also run 93 octane in mine.

The idle seems to have gotten worse. Same symptoms, only when the engine is cold. Sitting at the stoplight outside my subdivision, the hiccup has gotten worse. Again, once I start driving and the engine gets warmer, the next time I stop, the idle is smooth.

I'm gonna wait to see if this gets worse before I take it in.

I haven't noticed anything like that, but you might want to check your plugs after reading the other post

I have a good friend with a 2008 5 series BMW AWD wagon with the twin turbo direct injection straight 6. (about 42,000 mi)
He had the same issues (rough idle until warm) until today when it started running really rough at 70 mph. This triggered the engine light and a "slow down now" message. Vehicle is now at dealer 120 mi away via a flat bed. Will be interesting to see if it's the injectors or the 2000 + PSI injection pump. Anyway... I would be very concerned if it gets worse in any EcoBoost engine as we also have direct injection.

These high pressure pumps can be dangerous if they leak. Another friend with a 2008 Caddy CTS with direct injection engine had his leak early on, and it sprayed gas all over his engine. Fortunately engine was relatively cold so there was No fire.

Those high pressure fuel pumps aren't cheap either. I had an 09 535i sedan before the SHO. Before I bought the car I did some research and found out that the 2008 models were prone to problems with their HPFP's. I even heard horror stories about some dealers not warranting the claims and customers having to pay for a $4,000 pump out of their own pocket. Though I can't imagine why that would be?
Regardless my 09 only had a few troubles such as a leaking power steering hose and various little electrical problems. Still, it was a great car

I had the same problem until I ran Royal Purple and a K&N. Since I've done that regardless of temp she's running fairly smooth although the throttle seems to be overly sensitive till she warms up...

I can tell you tha is has nothing to do with the octane.. I run 87 most of the time in mine, and add higher octane for my driving style.

highway trip with no real messing around 87 Convention trip 26.1mpg on 87@ 80mph and above.
Playing around town 92-93 what ever is available.. 12mpg on 93 while testing.

I only see this issue in open loop on cold starts.
