I'm looking at purchasing a 2014 Taurus sho and I'm curious if there's a way to tell if it has a tune on it already?

one tell tale way is to remove the engine cover and look at the map sensor on top of the intake manifold. compare the part numbers to the sensor in front of the throttle body. if they match, it definitely is tuned.

Otherwise, you would have to have a way to monitor boost or datalog to view the engine parameters to see if it's tuned.

Occasionally we have, but I'd recommend getting with a reputable tuner, whether it be us at Ortiz Performance or any of the number of other tuners out there, and review the tune if you have reason to believe that it's been tuned. We've seen a lot of tuners that shouldn't be touching these cars and they tune them on the edge of safety and can cause a lot of issues if not rectified.

Yes, yes they can. They can tell how many times the ECU has been flashed.

Yes it can be. However, it comes down to the dealership. The general consensus is there has to be burden of proof the modification was the cause of the failure.
