Anyone tuned an Ecoboost Flex yet? I know getting whipped by a Taurus is bad enough but I'm guessing having a two tone shoebox fly by probably feels worse :corn:

Was wondering the same thing myself. The flex I believe is only a couple hundred lbs heavier than the SHO, so Im sure it can be made decently quick. I think a blacked out, lowered Flex with a tuned Ecoboost would be a pretty slick ride.

I like how Ford is begining to put this motor in a lot of different platforms Kinda like what Chrysler did in the 80's with the TI/TII motors in basically everything they offered. Saved the company, hopefully this will do the same for Ford.

Actually the only platform it is currently offered in is the D4, which is what the Taurus, Flex, MKS & MKT all share. You won't see EcoBoost on a different platform until the I4 versions debut.

yeah I've heard both S60 and Falcon will get the I4's for 2011, can't wait for them!

Supposedly the next EcoBoost will debut in the Falcon next year, along with Ford's 2.7L V6 diesel motor and a DSG gearbox. I wonder how hard it is to move down under.....

i forgot about the Explorer. The 2.0 Ecoboost should be as fast as the old V8 with better fuel economy since it's going to be a heck of alot lighter and nearly as much power. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say towing capacity won't be in even close though :/ Not sure that I ever see SUV's towing things for the most part anyways.

It's not a DSG. It's a dry clutch, dual clutch automated manual transmission. Ford and Getrag (who makes it) call it Powershift. The DSG utilizes wet clutches so it's a totally different beast, but same overall concept of an automated manual. It is already available with in the European Volvo C30 & Focus IIRC.
