Does the 6f55 trans in our cars have this problem? I'm wondering if this could be my intermittent hard down shifting issue.

Not really. Have not seen reports of issues with the TSS/OSS after this family of transmissions was switched to Mercon LV. The SHOs have always run on Mercon LV. Does not eliminate it, but highly unlikely.

Transmission Range Sensor issues do occur, as well as shift issues that require removal of a check ball from the valve body to resolve. The Solenoid Body Assembly has not been a traditional trouble spot either, but you will have to pull it to check if there is indeed a problem. Have not seen a solenoid filter getting clogged yet either.

And in yet other cases, a PCM recalibration is needed, or clearing the transmission adaptive tables. These adaptive tables are not cleared by a KAM reset, it is a separate function. Forscan MAY be able to do this on the 6F55, but IDK. 6F50, yes some models are supported.

A few avenues to explore before hitting the trans internals for clutch type problems.

Should be able to reset the transmission adaptive tables with it. Try a KAM reset first by pulling the neg battery cable for 40+ minutes. Yeah it is the hard way, but really the 100% proven way to get a KAM reset right. No shortcuts. If the KAM reset does not work, proceed to the adaptives next.
