I have read that the 3.4L V8 motor is based off the 2.5L Duratec motor. Does anyone know if these two motors have the same transmission bell housing pattern? Also I read somewhere that the 3.9L V8 from the 2001 T'Bird is also based off the Duratec platform. Does it have the same transmission pattern as well? Thanks.

I am pretty sure I just read a few on posts recently very similar to your question. Try searching it.

The 3.4 does share the Duratec bellhousing. I'm not sure about the 2001 T-Bird, but I know that the Lincoln LS, and the new Duratec Rangers all have transmission that bolt up to a Duratec bellhousing. There's also a bellhousing available from Quads4Rods for connecting the Duratec to a T5.

The 3.9 from the TBird is the same engine as the LS, so I would assume it's the same pattern.

3.4L V8 to T5 Transmission

I haven't posted anything in a long time, but I feel compelled to do so now. I am converting a 1999 Cougar to RWD. I'm using an IRS form a '92 Cougar and a '96 Mustang front suspension. I plan to use a 3.4L V8 Yamaha and mated to a T5 transmission. I contacted of John E. at Quads4Rods and he supplied all the parts. If anyone is looking for QUAD4, DURATEC, ZETEC or ECOTEC parts, or the same bellhousing etc.. please get a hold of him. John does great work, he is easy to do business with. I can't say enough about him. He sent me a pic of a 3.4L Yamaha he is working on with "Fuelie" stacks! It looks wicked. Please tell you readership about John at Quads4Rods!!!!!!!!!!
