Anybody got any info on this new TSB 11-08-21?
I just called my dealer and he will fax me the details of that new TSB... I will inform you shortly on it... I hope it will cure my problem with the downshifts from 3rd to 2nd using the paddle shifters...

Ok, so I received the fax describing the new TSB #11-8-21. I will try to translate the important points. It is actually the TSB that will replace the 11-5-6 that many of us had performed. It addresses the Edge, MKX, Flex 2009 and the Edge, Flex, MKS, MKT, MKX and Taurus 2010-2011 produced before April 15th 2011.
Those ones which experience an hesitating or slow acceleration from 0 to 5 mph followed by a harsh bump or feel like slippery from a stop followed by a harsh bump.

The intervention only affects the gear box MERCON LV.

A new «calibration» is available and there is a modification in the hydraulic block of the gear box to correct the situation. The mod consists in removing one hole in the intermediate plate of the hydraulic block and remove a «holding ball» in the same area where the hole was removed...

If the previous steps are not done properly, new symptoms like difficulty to put on reverse and sudden acceleration when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear...

1 ) Reprogram the PCM with newer version of calibration 73.04 not included in the DVD VCM 2011.5, but available on www.motorcraft.com
2 ) Place the hydraulic block of the gear box according to chapter 307-01.
3 ) Replace intermediate plate of the hydraulic block. The X identifies the hole that needs to be removed (missing image)
4 ) Remove the «holding ball» identified by the X (missing image), leaving 6 holding balls...
5 ) Replace the block

Under warranty 11081A = 3.1 hours

Code for the dealer :
Base reference 7A100
Observation code : 42

There you go, hopefully the new calibration from 11-5-6 to this new 11-8-21 will be correcting the issue that I and others may still have, even after 11-5-6 was performed...

Cheers!

Steve

P.S. Hopefully my translation was helpful... not obvious to translate mechanical terms, especially when I don't even know what they mean in French lol!

Lol! I just went back in the previous threads and found out that 11-5-6 is about the same exact thing... Actually, I don't know if there is a differenceother that the reprogramming of the PCM is a newer version... I guess I just practiced my translation capacities lol!

Warranty work

My car seems to be having more frequent problems with transmission jolting and slipping.
I'll be making an appointment with local dealer to check and repair.
My question is, is there any loaner car coverage for warranty repair such as this, and how long does this repair normally take...hours, days?

There is no loaner with the repair. That being said, I've dealt with my local dealer since 1995. I've bought on my cars from them but 1 in '03, but they still got the maintenace work. So, I've been able to get a loaner for all repairs needing more than a few hours. In fact, they will be replacing my loose transmission selector next week and I'll have a loaner while they work the issue.

My dealer provides a loaner whenever my car is in for service, even oil changes. I will be bringing mine in for oil and transmission issues next week. Hope I won't get the run-around with the transmission that some other owners are receiving.
