I guess my honeymoon is over? Didn't take long...

So, yesterday, as I was moving the car, I got a solid shudder when I backed up, slightly uphill, on an uneven surface. I've also noticed it has trouble on sharp turns, almost like traction control is acting up.

But then, I've never driven a car with traction control...so I don't know.

U can (sorta) turn off traction control through the controls on the steering wheel(non-pp) and through a press of a button on the pp.
I also had a weird stutter like that before my PTO(transfer case) exploded. It was the only symptom (happened only once). I was on a weird angle/hill and thought it was that.

So, in a parking lot today, I played around with it, to see if I could get it to do it again, and...

I did. So, if I cut the wheel all the way right or left while stopped, then hit the gas to go into that sharp turn, it stutters/shudders. I'm not hitting the gas hard, just the standard, "ok, lets move" amount. Once moving, no issues, even with giving it a little more throttle.

Normal? Is this traction control?

Not normal. Mine goes forward or backwards with the wheel turned fully in either direction without any stutters or shudders.

I never hit the gas hard with a wheel locked in a full turn either.

Me either. Did I miss a sentence somewhere?
I guess I did. His wording is ambiguous. He said it, but didn't hit it hard. So a push?

I have never touched the gas ever with my wheel turned to locked. I just let the trans do the work. However, I can see it shuddering if you were too. Esp with sending power back to the PTU. That is literally the weakest position you can put that set up.

Ya i dunno. I've pressed the gas with it fully turned, just not much. Probably not even 5mph forwards or backwards with them turned all the way.

So, with the wheel locked in either direction, let off the break, car barely moves. So, I give it a little throttle to help it along, and that's when the shudder happens. Only with the wheel turned all the way, though. Cut the wheel less, no issues.

Btw, I was impressed with how sharp the radius is. I was able to drive a pretty darn tight circle for such a big car.

From what you are saying...I would say your car is perfectly fine.

The turning circle is almost identical to the much larger expedition....if that helps with the comparison. And its only slightly better than the trucks lol.

Whew. I was hoping is was just traction control freaking out or something.

It seemed way too consistent to be something wearing down or breaking.

Thanks!

Well, I'm coming from my old daily driver, an 05 civic, which is obviously maneuverable, and the toy, the 76 corvette...which, due to the increased wheel/tire size I run, has the stearing radius of a small barge.

I guess I just didn't expect that huge SHO to be able to go round in such a small circle, lol.

When I forget the rear is locked after a stoplight run and go to turn afterwards im quickly reminded lol

FYI, turn off traction control via steering wheel (which has to be done every time I turn the car on, apparently), and tried the same experiment, and no noise or vibration. Voila! Its the traction control.
