Been a while since I have posted on here. I have what I think may be a defective pressure plate that I got in a clutch kit. I have since taken the transmission off a second time, replaced the fork bushings, and verified the clutch plate is in the correct way. Everything was torqued to specs. Got it all back together and with it up on jack stands, start car and put it in 1st, the rotors spin with it in gear. It also doesn't shift smooth. I haven't put fluid in yet because I wanted to verify it was going to work properly first.

I got to thinking, could there have not been enough fluid in it the 1st time and I am getting the same result this time? Or should it fully disengage with the clutch pedal pushed in? I did readjust the clutch pedal so it should have been pulling far enough. Also used a c-clamp on the transmission itself to verify.

You need fluid in the transmission for it to shift property.

oil in the trans will have no effect on clutch disengagement. it sounds like the clutch does not fully release.
