Gonna take the "ventilated" trans out and pop the "new" one in. Parts that I also plan on ordering...

-input shaft seal
-output shaft seals
-shift shaft seal
-SHO NUT Install DVD

I also would like to weld the diff pin so this never happens again. If I pull the diff out does that mean I have to shim the bearing when I put it back in or will I be good?

You should be alright if you use the same differential that came out of the transaxle.

Make sure that who ever welds the difference pins knows what they are doing.
A few of us have done it.
A search on the forum should help you with pics.

I'll get some good pics once the trans gets pulled. But that won't be for a week or so.

And I was driving to work. Not much stop and go. Towns I drive through are suburb/rural. On my way I was hearing a clicking noise from under the engine but I figured it was just a trim piece or something dragging along the ground.

I was going 55 and the light ahead turned red, so I pressed the clutch and shifted into neutral and BOOM.

Pulled over and looked underneath and it was leaking. Got back in and limped it around the corner to a not so busy street. Then towed it home where it resides currently.

For the diff pin weld fix, the ring type reinforcement seems superior and tougher to mess up from the pics I've seen. Where should I get one of these rings?

I have a STL SHO ring welded diff. For a stock diff the thing is bulletproof. Me a 3 other tried breaking it and it held up perfect. If your interested shoot me a PM. I might let it go for a decent price.

No offense Zach, but I wouldn't buy something that you and 2 other people tried to break. :laugh_ti:
