While changing my oil the other day I notice d a lil tranny fluid on the floor of the car just aft of the shifter linkage. I played witht e linkage a lil and I noticed that there was fluid weeping out of the hole in the boot for the linkage when I moved it. Is this normal?

It sounds like you're talking about the shift shaft seal. If that is correct and it is leaking from around the convoluted boot that is on it you'll need to remove the rod shifter connection and pull the boot off. The seal is new so you can either try to tap it in a bit to see if that stops it from leaking or you can remove it and put a smear a little anaerobic sealant around the outer edge of the seal and then tap it back into place using a deep socket or similar. Something that will apply even pressure when tapping it into place.

Double check the fluid level while you're down there also to make sure it's full.

Mines been leaking from the shift shaft seal for a while now. Mark N. put in a new seal when he went through my tranny. I noticed it was still leaking when I installed the Quaife a while ago and threw in another new seal. It still leaks. If the shift shaft is slightly smaller than it should be (sanded off rust on the shaft) would that make it leak slow like that. I mean if you squeeze the black rubber boot it'll squirt out the air hole. (Probably from slowly leaking and pooling inside the boot) Looks like mine is leaking from the inner diameter of the shaft. You can see fluid come out very slightly when you shift the shift shaft back and forth. Is there a way to repair that?

Sorry for the thread hijack. But perhaps we are having the same leak.

Here's a picture. (looks like it's leaking from the outside in the picture but I think that's just because the boot had fluid in it and it dripped off in that spot)

Not at all. And Yes I believe we would have the same leak. Checked the fluid level... A-OK. Probably the smallest of leaks, just have to check the fluid level @ oil changes.

Also to keep in mind is this. If the seal was leaking prior to the new seal being installed and the boot was not cleaned out it could be residual fluid left in the boot that your'e seeing. If it's nominal then it's nothing to worry about really, just keep an eye on the fluid level.
