Tranny problems, need help ASAP, Ideas???

Im having major tranny problems and need help. My tranny seems to have frozen up. Here is the list of what its doing, what could cause this??
1)Shifter very hard to move
2)cannot shift into gears
3)when pulled into nutral and car is started and u let out the clutch motor dies (bog type of dies)
4)lifted front spun one tire other tire rotated opp. direction (normal i beleive)
5)when car is on ground cannot push it on slight downhill
6) smoke came from around tranny when it happened (black smoke)

HELP i need the car back its my daily driver. what could cause this?

If the car is in neutral, and you let the clutch out and the clutch grabs, then the tranny is stuck in 1-5 or reverse.

I think we already mentioned about looking underneath at the shift shaft, and axle pockets. Have you done this?

Based on your description, I don't think it's your clutch or diff, I think it's either your linkage, or something internal in the gearsets.

Either way, if it's the clutch, the diff, or the gearsets (forks or whatever), then the tranny has to come off. You gotta see what you are up against so you can go from there...

the shift shaft looked fine and i can move the shifter from side to side. It has been suggested to me that it could be a peice of a gear that broke off (dad says tranny got sluggish earlier and he forced the issue) and is now wedged in the gearset. Possibility?

It sounds like maybe you could have chipped a gear slightly.The burr could cause too much binding which would stall the car.Whatever it is,something is binding.Don`t force anything because it could blow a sprocket and you don`t wany pieces going around.
