I just installed front and rear reinforced engine mounts from ShoNut on my '89 (298,000 miles). I like feel of the car with the new mounts a lot.

When I replaced the front engine mount I was reminded of the time when I brought my car to the dealer because I needed a new clutch.

When the dealer submitted the paperwork with an estimate to determine what work needed to be done and it said "Check clutch", the mechanic wrote back "What clutch?". Hah! Hah! Hah! I got a kick out of that.

So if someone had asked me to check the front engine mount, I would have replied, "What front engine mount?" after taking a look. It was that bad.

The rear engine mount wasn't really that bad.

Enough entertainment.

But to my question:

How do I know if the tranny mount needs to be replaced?

I removed the fender splash shield on the driver side and the mount and bracket don't "look" that bad.

Is there any test I can perform to determine the condition of that mount similar to the tests you perform to determine the condition of the front and rear engine mounts (seeing if the engine lifts when trying to go forward / backward with the brake engaged)?

Thanks. :salute:
