Tranny fluid capacity?

Anyone know the exact transmission fluid capacity (# of quarts) when doing a fluid and filter change??

i would start with 3 to 4 quarts and go from there

I think it is somewhere around 5 -5.5 quarts. Like lowc said, add 3-4 quarts and go from there. Slowly shift through all the gears, check, add some fluid, repeat.
Be sure to use Mercon V fluid.

I think it's more around 6-7 but like evreyone else said I usually dump about 5 and start there.

If you flush it like you should you will need 14 to 15 quarts but this replaces all the fluid.

If your just going to drop the pan an change the filter than about 3 or 4 quarts is adequate. IIRC System capacity is around 13 quarts or so. Whenever I am doing a flush I buy 3 Gallon jugs and a few quart bottles, whatever bottles are left get used for PS fluid and the like later on anyway.
