ive searched and couldnt find all the answers that i need. i have an 89 MTX. when i accelerate it shakes a bit too much. everything is tight and almost new on the chasis (ball joints, inner-outer tie rod ends, brakes, calipers, rotors, SF bushings are tight). I also have a problem with shifting. First gear, second and reverse are hard to get into but not out.
I've read that it could be the PP fingers are weak. It doesnt slip. It rattles after disengaging the clutch in gears 1-3. I believe thats the TOB. Are these two problems linked? please i need suggestions. i have a new Valeo clutch kit ready to be put in, but i dont want to put it in and have the problem something else in the tranny/

Put in the new clutch and all your problems are gone. These cars never wear out a clutch disc, so even at the end they grab well. The inherent problem is the throw out bearing (TOB) runs constantly on the diaphragm pressure plate fingers. Eventually, the TOB bearing ends up chewing on the tips of the many fingers on the pressure plate. They wear and brake off, throwing everything off balance; that is your vibration. Your bite point of the clutch is very low (on the carpet) on the clutch pedal travel. That is because your TOB and pressure plate fingers have worn enough to take up all your clutch adjustment and you are at the end of the line. Have a resurfaced flywheel ready, and consider tightening or replacing your rear main seal. Would not hurt to have another tranny mount close by, just in case. Same for some motor mounts.
