Is there some secret to turning this off? Nothing sucks more than trying to do some donuts or drifts in the snow and having the traction control kick on and almost **** me at the last second because it cuts out the power. Pressing the button shuts it half way off, but not fully off.

mine won't shut off the stability control with the TPMS missing

so i'm stuck with trying to fool the system with the throttle

unless you have the performance pack which gives you 2 settings of advancetrac first one is traction 2nd is stability

So this is why mine wont shut all the way off? I have no TPMS either on my winter set.

when i rotate the car it won't spin fast enough and locks me out tapping some of the wheels to get me in "control"

but if the area is big enough i can do some sweet drifts

It does the same thing to me and it almost killed me the other day. It would be fine if it didnt cut out the gas pedal so much.

Maybe you should discuss totally disabling stability control with Kirk or Rick or someone else who's been successful at it before you wad up your ride doing donuts in a parking lot.

It's happened once already, 12 months later he's still living it down.

Don't be that guy.

Who slammed their car into a pole? I didnt get close but it was close enough where I feel the TC either needs to be off or I need to grow up and stop sliding around parking lots like a kid.

I'll have no more talk of this growing up and cessation of childlike behavior. I just won't have it.

It wasn't a pole so much as it was a parking lot island hidden in the snow. One of the Gen 2 guys did it. Two lateral links, a tension rod, a spindle, a strut, and I think a wheel later he's good to go. I would imagine the same parts on a 2010 would cost a fair bit more than he got out of it for, too.

And hey, if you end up tagging a pole, as least you saw it coming. :thumb:

Wow that sucks. I only go where I know where all the curbs are (lucky they space out the poles too so we get alot of room). Its just the stupid stability control that cuts off my ability to dab at the gas pedal to keep the car sliding.

Fortunately, my Chevy Corsica's solid rear beam suspension was too crude to destroy and I only lost a wheel and tire... :swing:

I experienced the same in this snow. I used to slide around in my cul-de-sac and back into the driveway with my old Subaru.
I tried it with the SHO...haha...some buzzing here and there, a few lights...and I was stopped dead in my tracks. It slapped my hand and said "NO". haha Guess we shouldn't be throwing a $40k+ car around. Maybe that's why my insurance was the same price with the SHO compared to the Subaru.

Oh, and BTW, this SHO goes better in the snow than the Subaru did. I'm sure the extra weight really helped. I really had fun passing all the cars sitting stuck on Wed night here in the DC area. I don't think I felt one tire slip. Though I was worried about the front air dam dragging in the snow, it seems to have survived fine.

I don't know if its the same but in order to turn it off completely on my f-150 I have to hold the button in for 5 seconds until the light flashes then it shuts off track and stability but and a big but is it will turn the stability back on when you go over 40mph IIRC.
