Don't know if anybody else does this, but I tow a 3000 lb boat and trailer about 10 miles to the lake.

It's a lot easier than stealing my wifes truck, but I would like to know if there is any reason to return to stock tune when towing.

I am currently running #3 tune.

I am not sure about the year SHO you have but, the manual for 2013 states the following:

"Your vehicle is capable of towing a trailer up to 1000 lb (454 kg) gross
trailer weight with a maximum tongue load of 100 lb (45 kg). Do not tow
with the Taurus SHO; it is not rated to tow a trailer.
"

That being said I would probally keep using the tune, since I guessing it firmed up the shifts for you, so this should help keep heat down in the transmission.

My father got a MKS, tows a 22' pontoon with it. I would not want to go cross country, but I am hoping the short tows I do will not hurt anything.

If you dont have 2013, then i would get the trans cooler off the 2013. There is a good write up on the ecoboost town forums, for this mod, it can not hurt to have added protection.

My 2010 Flex has a 4,500 lb towing capacity. I tow a 22' Ebbtide (502) with no problem.

If you are only towing a few miles at relatively low speeds you should have no issue. provided your hitch can handle your boat.

(I wouldn't hook it up with a rope or bunji cord etc... LOL!!!!!!)

I agree with Mac if you're going 100+ MI...

I would recommend returning to stock or requesting a tow specific tune. There are some things we do here to make towing as safe as stock, but don;t recommend towing more than it's rated for.
